Foundation day

 

Our school's 123rd Foundation Day celebration was really fun! The preparations were a lot of work. We practiced the field demonstration for many days, and as a MAPEH club officer, I helped get everything ready for the booths set up on the field. It was a busy time, but exciting.

 

I spent the first day of the celebration at our booth. We sold simple toys like jackstones, plastic balloons, and even some random Lego cartoon characters. It was fun interacting with everyone who stopped by.

 

The big day arrived, and it started with a school-wide parade. The sun was very strong, and the parade was quite tiring, but it was worth it! The field demonstration was amazing; everyone was so excited and energetic. The highlight of the day was definitely the Battle of the Bands; the music was fantastic, and the crowd went wild.

 

We celebrate Foundation Day to show our appreciation for our school. It's a chance to remember its history and thank everyone who has helped make it what it is today. It's a very important day for our school.

A visit to EstudyaNTREPRENUR

 

We went to the Estudyantepreneurship event that the TLE club made. There were lots of game booths – more than three – and it was fun, but also made us a little tired. We spent a long time at the first booth. We didn't plan to spend any money at first, so we just put some stickers on one of the games. But the games were really fun, so we kept playing until I used up all my 30 pesos.

 

I was surprised at the second booth because I had already spent my 30 pesos at the first one. It was a food booth and also had a place where you could buy colorful beads. 

 

We didn't get to see all the booths because we ran out of time. I wanted to go back the next day, but it was only open for one day. It was a shame, because it looked like there were lots of other fun things to do. I hope they have another event like this soon.

The Life I Have Always Wanted

 

I've always wanted to be a chef. My dad, who used to work in a restaurant, taught me how to cook simple food. He'd say, "Knowing how to cook will help you get by, you'll be a great wife someday." Back then, my dream was to be a chef in a really nice restaurant.

‎ 

‎But as I've gotten older, my dreams have gotten bigger. Now I also want to be an engineer. I plan to study both engineering and cooking. I want to use engineering to build my own restaurant, and I'll be the head chef there.

‎ 

‎Fifteen years from now, I see myself as a successful engineer who also owns a successful restaurant in another country. I imagine myself happily married, living a great life with my partner. Most of all, I want to make up for things I missed as a child by giving my siblings everything they need and want. I pray that they have a much better life than I did.

‎ 

‎The future is unknown, but I'll keep working hard, stay positive, and keep praying. I'll do everything I can, and I trust that God will take care of the rest. I'm excited to see what the future holds and to build a life that is both fulfilling and meaningful.

Women's Month: Towards a Safer Place

 ‎

Women's Month celebrates women's successes and discusses the need for equal rights for everyone. I was once a victim and felt unsafe, I don't want to repeat what happened to me or other women.  So, we must discuss the challenges women face and how to help them. Important agreements, like the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, guide the celebration to ensure it's effective. It's a chance to learn, share stories, and work toward a better future for women.

‎ This year's sub-theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” we want all women to succeed, no matter who they are. We want a Philippines where women are safe and have equal rights and opportunities in jobs, education, and leadership. We want a safer environment, we are not asking for special treatment, only what we deserve.

‎ 

‎The Philippine Commission on Women supports everyone. Let's make Women's Month a real movement for change, not just a celebration. We'll focus on actions that improve women's lives. We'll make sure women are heard, protect the progress we've made, and build a fair society for everyone.  This means working together to make sure women are equal, safe, and can achieve their dreams.  We want a future where all women thrive.

Happy Heart's Day!

 ‎Valentine's Day, celebrated annually on February 14th, is a day dedicated to expressing love for significant others, friends, and family. We celebrate with loved ones, often exchanging gifts as a token of affection and acknowledgement of the day.

‎According to realsimple.com, Some historians think that the ancient Roman celebration of Lupercalia is where it all began. Lupercalia was a celebration of fertility and the arrival of spring that took place every year on February 15. There was animal sacrifice, a great deal of intoxicated celebration, and perhaps a custom where men and women were paired off by selecting names from a jar. Pagan rituals became less popular as Christianity grew in popularity. The event was banned by Pope Gelasius I near the end of the fifth century AD. There is no concrete evidence to support the claim that he replaced it with St. Valentine's Day, a holy feast day. In any case, the wild Lupercalia lost ground to the Christian feast.

‎As someone who loves to celebrate, February is a month overflowing with love, but let's remember that every day is an opportunity to show love. As we say (in unison), "Araw-araw may pagmamahal!"

Kannawidan: The Grandest of Celebrations

 

The Kannawidan Festival is a major celebration for Ilocanos, especially those in Ilocos Sur. Each year's festival is a significant event marking the foundation anniversary of Ilocos Sur.

‎This year's "grandest celebration" was amazing. The Christmas village delighted children and adults, even those healing their inner child. Attending the opening ceremony was a joy. I was thrilled to witness fireworks lasting over five minutes.

‎

‎What made this year's festival so special was how it showed us just how important our culture is. The whole point of the celebration was to remind everyone that our shared culture brings us together. It wasn't just about fun and games, it was about remembering who we are and where we come from. Seeing everyone there, celebrating together, really made that clear. It felt like a strong connection to our history and to each other. The festival helped us remember that our culture is something to be proud of and something that unites us as a community.
